#devs/reFX.software

June 3rd, 2008 | 5 Comments | Posted in developers
ok, in light of my impulsiveness, i’ve decided instead of a bad developers list, i’m going to put up a good developers list (i got the idea from Cordelia on Kvr) so people can see comments about individuals’ experience with a particular developer. i’m going to leave what i’ve posted intact, complete with comments.

EDIT: I’ve done some research and also (see below) Urs from u-he has also pointed out that while reFX’s license termination policy is weak at best (my words) that the OP of the Ableton thread was wrong about reFX’s license policy not being available before you purchase the software. it IS indeed available to you before you purchase the software. well, here’s the original post

LINK - the Ableton Live forums

i still can’t agree with how the whole situation was handled and would say for anyone who values their cash to look elsewhere for virtual instruments. developers who don’t allow license transfers are greedy. music, movies, and video games can all be sold and traded, but software developers have come up with this theory that their software is more important apparently.

the only reason not to allow license transfers is because you (the developer) thinks that the customer is going to keep the software installed and not remove it per the TOS. that is essentially calling the customer a thief. THAT IS NOT OK.
