#news//new.ericsound.plugs

June 26th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in audio news
ericsound plug-ins has just released 2 new plug-ins in VST format, each of which happens to be an EQ. First, there’s the FreeeQ V1.3, and then the UniQ v1.0 which is a more advanced version of the former. I’m not going to review them quite yet as i haven’t even installed them in the studio, but over the next few days i’ll play with them and give a detailed report. as for cost, well, the FreeeQ is free as you may have guessed. the UniQ however is commercial software, but he’s adopting the ever popular ‘pay-what-you-want’ idea. here’s a few screenshots before i’m outta here:

schwa oligarc filter
as innovative plug-in developers, schwa have been creating some eyebrow-raising new plug-ins. not only that, but they’re also toying with some innovative ways of giving back. their new plug is called Oligarc Filter, which they are donating all proceeds to the alliance for climate protection. here’s a little excerpt from the kvr audio thread where it was released:

A sophisticated emulation of a classic analog ladder filter, complete with nonlinearity, instability, good looks, and danger.

Free to try out. We’re trying something new with the pricing: not keeping the money.

do yourselves a favor and take a look at their new plugs. they’ll prove to be a very unique and tasty additions to your audio arsenal.

ok, here we go. as you can see from the post below, i’ve already got my first wankster ready to defend these crystal castles people, so I’ve decided to write another post with a bunch of links to information that you can read about crystal castles and their lack of originality, dignity, respect for others, braincells (due to constant exposure of ms. glass’s heckle), and among other things - permission to use said artwork and samples. have fun.

ok kids, go ahead and whack away - just make sure you pull your heads out of crystal castles’ butts before you go off about how they’re “to die for”.

so, i’ve been reading a lot about this band called crystal castles lately. apparently this little known (at least to the REAL music world) and little talented duo of plagiarizing kiddies has been ripping off everything from good ol’ chanel’s logo, to some poor artist’s cd cover design. trevor brown is his name,

Crystal Castles steals stuff

and making wierd cd covers apparently is his game - or is it crystal castles’ game just to rip off anything they can get their little mitts on? have you seen them? grubby little pukes from some crap corner of the music market. after reading so much bad stuff about this band (and hearing them - where are my earplugs??) i’ve decided to go on a crusade (yes, another one) against them. not that my opinion counts, but a quick google search about the matters at hand would point you to various others whose opinions DO count.

#news//daniel.hansson.tribute

April 24th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in audio news
this was a story from CDM if you don’t know but, after reading specific parts of the report, i thought that maybe i should post a little about this (i’ll tell you why after). daniel hansson, pictured below, was a co-founder of the wildly innovative elektron. elektron created devices such as the machinedrum and the monomachine, which are intelligent, elegant, exceptional pieces of music creation - with a cult

daniel hanson

following to boot. sadly, daniel died abruptly in a tragic car accident very shortly after arguru (discodsp, imageline, etc.) had passed away in the same manner. in either case, there has been a tribute compilation created called “45 tribute” which has 30 tracks on the cd for $5 bucks. the proceeds are being directed at the world wildlife fund, which was daniel’s favorite charity. peter also reports on CDM that the “organizers don’t have a PR budget for this, so we’re their PR”, and that means a lot. dig up $5 somewhere and pick up this tribute to a revolutionary individual who gave his life to creativity.
